Girl Gamers People find it so weird that I play video games because I'm a girl, and some other girl gamers that I know have experienced this also. So what? We play video games and we happen to have boobs. Big deal (er..well, for some girls...small deal). I get a lot of crap from guy gamers though, especially online. There all like, "are you a fat ugly lesbian chick by any chance?" I'M NOT A LESBIAN!!! (though I have nothing against gay people, I'm just not one..=>_>=). A lot of guys are still stuck on the idea that girls should only be interested in getting guys to date them by putting on a mask of make-up and skirts that go to their necks. I'm not a hardcore feminist, but not all girls are like that. Some girls have other interests than just trying to impress guys so that they'd go out with them. Okay, not me, though my flirting skills haven't worked for me yet...=<_<=. Seriously though, I am not really close to the friends I had while in Jr. High (I don't like them anyway). I got into video games, computers, and Anime, and most of them got into 40-year-old truckers. I'm just kidding about that 40-year-old truckers thing (they're more like 35-years-old). But some really have been just going out with scuzzy guys, getting into sex, drugs, etc. Sadly, some of them are going to be stuck in this small redneck town for the rest of their lives; I can tell that now. But I keep thinking that if it wasn't for video games, I would probably end up like them. They got into that stuff mostly because of their low self-esteem. I have low self-esteem too, but I usually lash out my saddness and anguish on that girl Kuja on FF9. I like having low self esteem though, it makes me feel special. Not all girl gamers are fat, ugly lesbians. I myself am a "still-trying-to-lose-weight, okay looking, STRAIGHT person." It's so unfair that some guy gamers stereotype girl gamers like that. Very rarely do I hear a girl gamer say, "all guy gamers are fat and ugly gays!" Stop stereotyping us, dammit =>_<=! |
